Internet Addiction(IA) - A mental health condition demonstrated through the inability to control Internet usage. Usage includes online social media, communication applications, gaming, gambling, pornography, shopping, and aimless searches on a computer, cellular device, or gaming console.

Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) - The excessive checking or refreshing of social media sites or applications out of the fear that the user will miss something their friends are doing or posting.

Maladaptive Behavioral Responses - Negative conditioned responses to environmental stimuli or circumstances (i.e., slamming a keyboard in response to a computer error).

Comorbidity - A symptom or condition that is simultaneously present with other diagnoses. The presence of comorbidity symptoms does not imply that those symptoms were caused by a previously identified condition.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) - A type of psychological therapy that focuses on challenging negatively reinforced behaviors with a new set of positive responses.

Social Networking Sites (SNS) - Websites like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat that prioritize social interactions; Internet communication applications.
